Lisbon Cruise Port Guide
Three terminals, one magnificent city — know where you dock before you plan.
Lisbon has three cruise terminals used by different ships: Santa Apolónia (central), Jardim do Tabaco (Baixa waterfront) and Alcântara (west, near Belém). Your terminal determines the best independent transport and ideal first destination.
Santa Apolónia: oldest central terminal, 10–15 min walk to Alfama, metro blue line at the station, ideal for city-first days. Used by MSC, Costa and many medium-large ships.
Jardim do Tabaco: Baixa waterfront, 5 min walk to Praça do Comércio, best location for flat walking and metro access. Used when central berths are in demand.
Alcântara: western terminal near Belém and Docas nightlife district, 10–15 min walk to Jerónimos Monastery, ideal for Belém-first days. Used by large and mega-ships.
All terminals: taxi ranks at exit, excursion coaches meet at designated pickup points (confirm with operator), tourist information desks with city maps.
Viva Viagem card: buy at nearest metro station — covers metro, bus, tram and ferry within Lisbon for 24 hours. Essential for independent days.
Return timing: IC19 Sintra traffic and afternoon tram queues are the main independent-travel risks. Organised excursions build explicit buffers.
